'Gotham Knights' Cast Unite at Upfronts, CW Boss Talks Future of DC Shows

The cast of Gotham Knights team up for a group photo at the CW Upfronts presentation on Thursday morning (May 19) in New York City.

The stars of the upcoming new series – Oscar Morgan, Anna Lore, Rahart Adams, Tyler DiChiara, Navia Robinson, Olivia Rose Keegan and Fallon Smythe – all stepped out for the event, along with Misha Collins.

Other DC stars in attendance were DC’s Stargirl‘s Brec Bassinger and Superman & LoisTyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch.

Though there are three returning DC shows, and the new Gotham Knights, there were also three DC shows that were canceled.

The CW’s boss Mark Pedowitz opened up about the future of the networks’ DC shows, amid changes coming to the network and the merger of Warner Bros Discovery, who owns the DC brand.

Find out what he said inside…

“For the CW DC universe, we have Gotham Knights, so we are staying in the superhero business, we are staying with Greg Berlanti who has masterminded creatively the CW DC Universe,” Mark shared, via Deadline, just ahead of the Upfronts.

“We started with one, which was Arrow 10 years ago, and we have now moved on to create a whole bunch of superheroes and we are proud of it,” he continued. “We plan to stay in this business no matter what the outcomes is in the event of a sale or no sale. I think the Warner side realizes the value of having these properties up, DC Comics realizes the value of what it does for their marketability in terms of what these franchise are. Legends created a whole new life for characters they may not have even existed or used; they had not seen the light of day. We have brought enormous value to DC and Warner Bros. in terms of realization of the universe Greg Berlanti and his team have created.”

Mark also commented on whether The Flash would end after it’s next season.

“We have not any determination whether this may be the final season,” he said.

If you missed the scheduling news, Gotham Knights will premiere midseason in 2023, while DC’s Stargirl will be only DC show on the upcoming fall schedule, moving from summer to fall 2022.

The Flash and Superman & Lois have both been moved to midseason.
