So, why was Javier‘s song cut from the movie?
“We wrote a fourth song called ‘Impossible Child’ for King Triton. It didn’t remain in the film only because dramaturgically we didn’t really need it,” composer Alan Menken previously shared. “It was so great to work with Javier Bardem on that song and people will hear it as a DVD outtake, I guess.”
“We worked very hard on doing it. It was a beautiful process and a very scary one as we both know, but always accompanied by the amazing talent around you,” Javier recently told Screen Rant. “It was shot. It is beautifully shot, but it’s true that in terms of how the character ends the story if the song was included it would have changed a little bit what the end for the character is. It’s gonna be released as an extra when the movie comes out.”
If you missed it, the full soundtrack (minus this song) is available now – Check it out!
