Good Trouble's Cierra Ramirez & Josh Pence Talk SAG-AFTRA Strike & React to Disney CEO's 'Unrealistic' Comments

Cierra Ramirez and Josh Pence were among the many actors who have hit the picket lines since the SAG-AFTRA strike began.

The Good Trouble stars were also joined by their co-stars Sherry Cola and Kara Wang on Monday (July 17) in Los Angeles, and took some time to talk about the strike, how viewers can help and commented on Disney (who owns Freeform where their show airs) CEO Bob Iger‘s comments, calling the writers and actors strikes “very disturbing” and “unrealistic.”

Find out what the actors said…

While speaking with Wayne Ayers for Where is the Buzz, Cierra shared, “I think you’re misconstrued with the idea of, you know, when you think of the actors, you’re thinking of the Leonardo DiCaprios of the world, the Jennifer Lawrences, and we’re fighting for the actors whose names you don’t know, and the actors who eventually you will know one day.”

“A lot is determined by what we’re fighting for right now, and all the actors before us have helped us get healthcare and, you know, we’re also in solidarity with our writers,” the actress continued. “It’s a scary time that we live in, especially in a time when it comes to the likeness and owning, you know they’re trying to steal the likeness of people and own their faces for life. It’s really scary.”

As for Bob Iger, he recently said in an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box that the strikes are “very disturbing to me. We’ve talked about disruptive forces on this business and all the challenges we’re facing, the recovery from COVID which is ongoing, it’s not completely back. This is the worst time in the world to add to that disruption.”

He added that he understands strikes happening and unions working for their members, adding, “There’s a level of expectation that they have, that is just not realistic. And they are adding to the set of the challenges that this business is already facing that is, quite frankly, very disruptive.”

On the picket line, Josh reacted, saying, “I feel like if that’s the case, just tell us why it’s unrealistic. None of us, I think, feel that these are our enemies. We work together hand in glove. Our network executives at Freeform are super supportive of our show, and so I think that’s where it comes back to having transparency. If that’s the case, Bob, then why? And just help us understand that so we can have a fairer deal made at the end of the day.”
