With Madelaine also executive producing, “the film follows Charlie (Petsch), who is forced to reconsider the viability of her beloved all-female mechanic shop. Seeking connection on an online car forum, little does she know her confidant, Beau (Scipio), is in fact her real-life business rival.”

“can’t wait for you to meet charlie,” Madelaine shared on Instagram with the news, and a first look photo of her in character.

Her bestie and former Riverdale co-star Camila Mendes commented, “eeeee need my girl in a rom com asap”

The movie is currently in production, with Lacey Uhlemeyer making her directorial debut on the film, written by Lacey and author Erin Falconer.

“We are thrilled to be working with Amazon MGM Studios on Maintenance Required,” Future Artists Entertainment’s Matt Williams, a producer on the film, shared in a statement. “This project blends the charm and wit of a classic romance with the exhilarating world of car culture. It’s great to see Madelaine behind the wheel, driving the story alongside our fantastic leading man Jacob Scipio.”

While the film is set up at Amazon MGM Studios, it’s currently unclear where the movie will premiere – in theaters, Prime Video or Amazon Freevee.

Madelaine previously starred in the holiday rom-com Hotel for the Holidays, which debuted on Amazon Freevee. Prior to that, she also starred in the rom-com About Fate.
