
Joshua Bassett is officially a two-time Emmy award-nominated songwriter!
The 23-year-old musician and actor was just nominated once again for the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards for his work on the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Joshua is up for Original Song for a Children’s or Young Teen Program for the song “Speak Out,” which he co-wrote with Doug Rockwell and Tova. He also co-produced the song with Doug.
The tune is featured in the final season of HSMTMTS, episode five, titled “Admissions.” He performs the song with co-star Matt Cornett (EJ) when he visits him at college.
Last year, Joshua, Doug and Tova won this same award for “Finally Free” from season three.
Other HSMTMTS 2025 Children’s and Family Emmy nominations this year include Writing for a Young Teen Series for the “Admissions” episode written by Nneka Gerstle, and Choreography for Zach Woodlee.

The ceremony will take place on March 15 in Los Angeles.
The Walt Disney Company received a grand total of 98 nominations at the upcoming awards ceremony, with other shows getting noms that include Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Goosebumps, Raven’s Home, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Monsters at Work, The Santa Clauses, Hailey’s On It, The Naughty Nine, The Villains of Valley View and more!
