Malachi Barton is returning to Disney Channel with a new series!
The 18-year-old Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires star has been cast in the upcoming show Coven Academy from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle.
This will mark Malachi’s third show on the network, following Stuck in the Middle and The Villains of Valley View. He’s also expected to return for Zombies 5, if it gets picked up!

Coven Academy follows a trio of teenage witches-in-training who are bound by destiny to guard their city against dangerous, ancient forces. Between unraveling dark secrets, mastering volatile magic, and facing off against distractingly cute rivals, they must also navigate the heartbreaks and deep bonds that come with growing up.
Tim Federle wrote and directed the pilot episode, and the series is slated to debut next year on both Disney+ and Disney Channel!
“I pitched Coven Academy as a love letter to the genre YA shows I grew up on,” Tim, who has an overall deal with Disney Branded Television, shared in statement. “I’m thrilled to bring this original story to the screen with my longtime friends at Disney, led by Ayo Davis, and I can’t wait for the world to meet the incredible cast and crew who are conjuring our world into being.”
In addition to Malachi starring as Jake, the cast also includes Malina Pauli Weissman as Briar, Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves, Louis Thresher as Ollie, Jordan Leftwich as Sasha and Ora Duplass as Tegan.
Malachi will also reunite with his Zombies 4 fellow vampire Swayam Bhatia, who will recur as McKenna, along with recurring guest stars Brendon Tremblay, from the upcoming Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, as Alexander and Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora.
