The Gossip Girl season two premiere is finally here!
Episodes one and two drop on HBO Max at midnight Thursday (December 1), and we can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions.
JJJ got to preview the episodes and we just KNOW that fans are going to love them!
In season two, it’s the second semester of Junior year, and Gossip Girl is leaving no stone unturned in her effort to control the scandalous lives/spin the scandalous lies of Manhattan’s elite. She’s learned a thing or two from her first go-round — namely what her audience wants, they shall get.
It’s time for her to turn the heat up on what’s been simmering (Julien, have you met Monet?) as well as look at her own impact, and how she can make it more catastrophic than it was before. Even if that means lying to do it.
Old enemies, new allies, constantly shifting sands — this semester, there can only be one queen, and by the end of the school year, everyone will know where the bodies are buried, and just who was holding the shovel.
Ahead of the premiere, we’re refreshing your memory on the main cast, which includes ten characters and even a new series regular!

Julien Calloway
Played by: Jordan Alexander
Rich, popular, half African-American Junior at Constance, estranged half-sister to Zoya. Famous Instagram influencer. Her father, DAVIS (Luke Kirby), is a famous record producer and his access to celebrities gave her a platform for celebrity interviews at a very young age.
Zoya Lott
Played by: Whitney Peak
Lower middle class, new-to-Constance. Half-sister of Julien. She is not a follower by any means. She wants to be a playwright, and is definitely afraid of being sucked into this new world and having her goals derailed. Zoya and Nick (Jonathan Fernandez) live in Nick’s mother’s rent-controlled Upper West Side Prewar 5. It’s lovely, but not fancy.
Otto “Obie” Bergman IV
Played by: Eli Brown
Julien’s ex-boyfriend, and the richest kid at school, a fact he hates. He rails against his Hilton-level real estate parents (OTTO and HELENA BERGMAN of the Bergman Property Group) and can often be found protesting his own parents’ developments. A flip on the first time around, our richest boy lives in a Dumbo Loft.
Lyne Renee plays his mom Helena Bergman.
Maximus “Max” Wolfe
Played by: Thomas Doherty
Max is the son of two gay men (GIDEON WOLFE, a theatre empresario and ROY SACHS, a landscaper). Max is our hedonist, a gender non-conforming pansexual model/lothario/gadabout – whatever it is, he’s done it. Max is up for anyone and anything at all times, which he’s been able to be because he goes about it the right way.
Todd Almond plays Gideon Wolfe, while John Benjamin Hickey plays Roy Sachs.
Akeno “Aki” Menzies
Played by: Evan Mock
Youngest son of our 88-year-old Rupert Murdoch-type, Australian right-wing media mogul ROGER MENZIES (Malcolm McDowell). His mom JODI MENZIES (now divorced from Roger) is a high-powered corporate connector. Aki’s been with Audrey basically since birth – just as long as he’s been Obie’s best friend. Aki and Jodi (Hettienne Park) live in a Central Park South sky tower – literally higher than the clouds.
Audrey Hope
Played by: Emily Alyn Lind
Daughter of fast fashion designer (and depressive) KATHERINE HOPE (Laura Benanti), and incredibly embarrassed over that fact. A beacon of classical taste (think Carine Roitfeld), her perfect manners and French tips serve as a middle finger against her mom’s lululemon aesthetic. Audrey is a perfectionist, which is trouble, because we all know there is no such thing as perfect. She is way too hard on herself. Audrey lives in her mother’s Upper East side pied-Ă -terre, while her mother is most often in their house in Connecticut.
Monet de Haan
Played by: Savannah Smith
Monet is Julien’s close friend and functions as her PR person. Is one of the richest kids at Constance. Her parents, Greyson and Camille (Amanda Warren), are in big pharma. Is pretty powerful; what she says goes. Does not like her status quo being challenged.
Luna La
Played by: Zion Moreno
Luna is Julien’s close friend and functions as her stylist. Doesn’t follow trends, she creates them. She’s Mexican from Mexico City. Her father is a famous Mexican director and her mother is a famous Mexican actress. She lives alone in New York while her parents make movies around the world.
Kate Keller
Played by: Tavi Gevinson
Kate is “at Constance,” but not part of the power circle of friends and doesn’t play by their rules. She is facing the challenge of gaining and keeping a sense of power and respect for herself. If asked why you’re seen in plain clothes, you can say that Kate is not one to play by the rules and is set apart from the rest of the characters. She has an interesting relationship with Julien that consumes a lot of her time. Audiences will have to watch to see how it transpires as the season goes on.
Shan Barnes
Played by: Grace Duah
She is described as a free spirt and Zoya’s best friend. “Season 2 will reveal pivotal details about her character as well as romances and missed connections,” Deadline reports.
