Shawn Mendes is opening up about his latest song “What the Hell Are We Dying For?” having multiple meanings.
The 24-year-old entertainer dropped the song last week (June 9), after just writing and recording it within the 24 hours before it came out.
With the song, he used a somber image of New York City clouded in smoke from the Canadian wildfires as the single art, and he also donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
After the song was released, many speculated on what the meaning was behind the song, with many suggesting it could have more than one meaning. Fans noticed some of the lyrics pointed towards a relationship (he has recently reunited with ex Camila Cabello).
