Malia Baker & Kylie Cantrall Say It Was Hard Playing Enemies In 'Descendants: The Rise of Red'

Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall pose for cute photos at the Empire State Building on Tuesday (July 2) in New York City.

The 17-year-old actress and the 19-year-old entertainer are in full promo mode for their upcoming Disney movie Descendants: The Rise of Red.

That same day, the girls made an appearance on Good Morning America to talk about the new musical movie, which is, of course, the fourth installment in the Descendants franchise. During their interview, they opened up about how it was difficult playing enemies.

“It was so hard, is the thing,” Malia said about scenes where they had to be mean to each other.

“Those scenes were hard, the ones where we had to hate each other because we couldn’t be further from that,” Kylie added.

They were also asked if they would break character and just start laughing.

“There’s this one scene that you’ll see where our heads are right against one other, trying to hate each other,” Malia said, before Kylie interrupted with, “We had to do this death stare scene, where we’re just staring at each other and just looking into each other intensely and we would just giggle every time.”

Malia added, “50 takes later.”
