David Henrie, Janice LeAnn Brown and Selena Gomez pose for a photo while attending the purple carpet premiere for their new show Wizards Beyond Waverly Place held at El Capitan Theatre on Tuesday (October 28) in Hollywood.
The trio were joined by several current and former co-stars to celebrate the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, which premieres TONIGHT (October 29) on Disney Channel!
JJJ recently spoke with both David and Janice, where they dished on the new show, including David returning to the character as a father, Janice‘s love of the Wizards movies and more.
Janice also opened up about whether she felt intimidated working with David and Selena, and how they made the set of the new show feel safe and comfortable.

“At first [I felt intimidated working with them], yes, ’cause I wasn’t really sure, obviously, I didn’t really know them, but they just kind of made it so welcoming and safe for me to just be myself,” Janice told us in our exclusive interview, which you can watch in full on our YouTube channel, or below!
“They just kind of, in a way, took all the pressure off, if that makes sense,” she continued. “They made me feel like I don’t have to be perfect. They just kind of told me to just be myself, how I think Billie is, just become Billie, and when I become Billie, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Don’t try to worry about pleasing other people and to just be myself. So, they made it very safe enough for me to just have fun.”
“So, I would say it was intimidating at first, but the moment I met them, I immediately felt safe,” Janice concluded.
Also in attendance at the premiere were Wizards Beyond stars Alkaio Thiele, Taylor Cora, Max Matenko and Mimi Gianopulos (with husband Brett Ryland), as well as showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, executive producers Gary Marsh and Jonas Agin, plus OG Wizards creator Todd J Greenwald.
From the original Wizards of Waverly Place, Maria Canals-Barrera, who played the mom Theresa, was in attendance with husband David Barrera and daughter Bridget, as well as recurring guest stars Gregg Sulkin, Hayley Kiyoko (with partner Becca Tilley), and Josh Sussman.
David‘s wife Maria and their three children, Pia, James and Gemma, also joined him on the carpet!
